I think the email notification feature is very good, alerting you to private messages and stuff, but can there be one set up to notify you of when someone replies to your topic in a message board? it'd be very useful so you wouldn't have to keep checking back.
some boards on other sites have this. it is called subscrbing to a topic, and I think it's a very good systemhave this
yeah I've seen that on other boards as well it'd be a very good feature.
Are you talking about topics that you create, or topics where you post a message? If the first, this could be done easily enough (though I'd then feel sorry for the people starting topics with over a hundred replies). If the second, we don't currently have a way of knowing which specific message within a topic you're replying to, only that you post a given message in a topic.

How about having an email notification sent when a topic to which you added amessage gets its first new post after yours?

I agree with all of you zoners. All of these ieas I think would be cool to have!
What some boards do is when you post a message in a topic, whether creating or adding to it, you'll get an Email when the next message is posted there. You won't get another Email for the same topic unless you log in and then back out again, when you'd get another message for the topic. So basically you're watching the topic. It's something we've thought about, but would take a bit of work. But it may happen at some point soon.
I think that would be great!! Also, if you get sick of a certain thread you can always unsubscribe.
Yes, I like the idea of getting a mail when the topic is updated again and then you can get one if you like log in and you can unsubscribe and things. This sounds nifty to me.
yeah it does to me too. i hope this happens soon, i know it is a lot of work, but it'd be something that is useful at the same time.
Agreed. Heh. Also I estimate if this featuer were impliemented it could be toggled. Like in settings, you could have a checkbox that says "enable email notifications for board posts" or whatever, right?
